Nah, everyone that I've been around and my own car (which remember is just a SOHC @ 8psi) runs normal and idles normal, but pulls when on boost. Mine, will take off normal, and I can get on it in first and spin the wheels, then through second and the beginning of third, no problem...but like out on the highway, after about 85-90 mph, the reality of the fact that it's just a SOHC kicks back in, and it goes back to acting normal, LOL. But it's REALLY nice to stomp on it doing 50-60 and feel it pull and accelerate, and the more boost, the better that feeling is (and sadly, the greater the cost)
The 600hp number is how much it's good to produce, which is a HUGE amount...and there's no such thing as an "exhaust manifold", because your exhaust gets collected to a single opening before the turbo, then goes through the turbo, spinning it, and exiting through another single opening, and goes through what's called a downpipe which is just a single pipe, made from header material, and a flange on each end, and sometimes, an O2 bung along the pipe. The downpipe connects the turbo to the Catalytic converter, or in most cases, like mine, the Cat is removed, and replaced with a test pipe, to be more free flowing.
Yeah, shoot me an e-mail...I'll look out for it.
