No, it doesn't work that way. You're not going to be able to charge a single battery more than its capacitance whether your using an 80A or 200+A alternator.

I had a single 105A Delco alt in my blazer running 1300+WRMS and no light dimming, with no cap and only a upgraded single battery.

just upgrade your wires from your alternater to the battery and ground wires and go from there to determin if u need a higher amp alternator.

200 will not be too much it wont hurt u if u have a powerful alternator u will just need to upgrade the ground wire. and if u ever decide to get a bigger system u wouldnt have to worry about this conflict twice

Get you a powermaster 140 amp alternator from jegs. I have 3 12's and 2200 watts in my blazer and 2 battries and that alternator works fine.

Finally someone said it. its the BIG 3 upgrade, battery to frame, to motor, to body, all 4ga. and also all power wires. It reduces voltage drop and also makes your equipment last alot longer!! I have over 100 0watts in my chevy for sterio, stock alt before.. no lights dimming, no voltage drop. same as my mazda, upgrading your factory wiring is the first and best thing to do.

be careful about high output alternators, they take a lil bit of horsepower to turn them over, i dont know if you would be worried about that or not. stinger on some of their larger models recommends horsepower over 300. i would run at least a 100 amp alt, upgrade all wires, (perhaps even a dedicated ground to the amp) and a BATCAP!! batcaps are small batteries if you will, about 70% battery and 30% capacitor. they work great and put ordinary caps to shame. do these things and you should have no problems
