there are a few problems with doing that we would half to chanel for the shaft which the gas tank is right under the rear seat. which means I would have to get a fuel cell and have a place to put it, couldnt put it in the rear no room with the 4 link and cant do it behind the seats cause of the speaker box. Its just going to be a dead axle. It would be cool though to do something like that

Everyone wants IRS on there truck and people with cars what the straight axles....

yeah i actually got a rx7 irs on my dime. the problem with the car is though the upper controll arm and spindle max out unlike the rx7 irs, there is almost no limit. I think mostly people just want to be different. Try to create new things and in the process learn alot as well.

actually the problem with the independent rear in them arent that they max out. The tires camber in so much that they rub the control arm on my avenger. But god damn it i just bought a 318 for it. Was gonna cut the front clip off and put a s10 front clip under it and i was gonna make frame rails the whole way back and put a solid axle under it. Have you guys looked at the gas tank yet? I made a new crossmember in the back to raise it up cuz it was damn close to the ground. I think if you made a new crossmember you could just mount the 4 link tabs to that and it would be alrite. Heres how low i got mine with the indepent rear still under it

the gas tank on the eclipse is even with the body it wont drag unless the ground is uneven which is very likely. the cross brace for the tank is completely gone ther will be another on in its place most likely but i dont believe we are going to beable to raise it up because it is already hugging the floor as it is. what is the overall diameter of those wheels, im trying to do 28" at least for some 20's on his rear, on his front when it drops the upper control arm and the spindle meet on the inside of the spindle so that is what is stopping the front. But if it can be cut and welded on things will change.
