Any help or ideas why I keep blowing the fuse from the battery to the relay for my Viair 450? In fact the fuse got hot enough to glaze ofer and warp. Now the holder still functions (it seems) but I blow fuses randomly. Sometimes they last days, sometimes just minutes but always blow.

I just bought another fuse holder, 30 amp fuses, 10 gauge wire, and insulated connectors. Going to replace it all but could it be anything else I need to check?

The other one I have hooked up the same way works flawlessly. Another thing is the presoldered leads on the fuse holder are thinner than 10g. Look to be maybe 12 gauge. So I have 10g from battery going to 12g prewired to fuseholder then back to 10g to the relay. I know this isn'tthe best thing to do but is it very very unwise? Since one comp works fine like this but the other dosen't I'm confused.

well, if there is a local stereo shop you can go and get however many feet you need. Once there get you the crimp on connectors the proper fuse holder.....

depending on how long the wire is, you can use 10ga. I only like to go as small as 8ga,but when running two compressors I like 4 ga to a block in the rear. Sounds like the compressors on its way out....

What size wire are you running right now? 10 should be enough for one 450. I'd definately go 8 though if you can find it.

Well I can't get to the Stereo store until tomorrow(Mon.) but I had to get it running for today. So FOR TODAY ONLY, I have it running with the 10g, all new wire and fuseholder. I definately want to change the fuse holders and wire tomorrow though. Actually I'm going to run circut breakers and just be done with fuses. Gonna see about running solenoids too, instead of these realys. I just wish I could find a diagram to wire up 2 comps, 2 relays, 2 power switches and one psi. switch. all together I'd be set.
