i looked at the how to on suicide doors.com and the buckets fit perfect in the doorjamb, with no room on either side so when the door closes, the hinge(arm) is all the way to the inside of the jam and when its open the hinge(arm) is all the way to the outside of the jam

i think you are over thinking this. it makes no difference how deep the door jam is at all. you leave your door on the stock hinges put in your pockets int he door jams. cut out the door so the arms slide in and weld it up. that way your door is still in its factory location but opens backwards. its not that hard when you get into it. not being a dick but if you are having a big problem understanding this now then you might not want to try this you can really ruin your truck very easily. it is not the easiest thing to do. read over that how to it is the bet one you will find nd you have to understand those hinge kits are universal for hot rods with flat square b billers and door jams you have to make it work. hope this helps you out. send me an im with your email and i will send you some pics.

Well, in a way how deep it is does matter. The way he has it now, will work, sort of. Like posted above, you just need to make the pocket deeper in the door itself. BUT, the problem with that is the deep into the door the pocket is, the more chance there is that the window wont be able to roll down because it will hit the pocket. Thats why I use HAGAN hinges, they offer a kit for WIDER door jambs. That way the hinge point can be near the oouter skin like its supposed to, but the hinge arm will be closer to the INSIDE of the vehicle, which allows for a shallower pocket in the door. Good luck, just measure everything multiple times and take your time, dont rush it.

I don't want to get your hopes down but if your doors are heavy you might want to try to send the Autoloc kit back. I installed them on my truck and regardless of how much I braced the hinges I was having problems with the hinge pins themselves giving and causing the door to sag. They sent me a free set and are a sponsor for me and I still chunked teh brackets and went with another brand. If your doors are pretty light then it might not be an issue. I started on the doors myself as a first timer and ended up having to bring in help to finish them. I hope all goes well. Good luck with the project.

i got the auto loc kit very nice the only problem with it is the bucket is not wide enough to give you a wide swing with the door. If you are planin on a project like SSD you cant let one little problem like that stop you the prolem that you might have is your window track not workin with it that is important. with the ssd bracket needing to be as far out as possible it might run itself right into your window track. Check that if its going to you will half to get another kit that has a wider bucket. Problem solved Sagging wise, the hinges are well more than strong enough if you can pick the door up its not that heavy. you half to brace the door skin with sheetmetal as much as possible.
