whats the best way to set up a scuba tank for you air supply? i jus bought one and really dont know much on them i only know the basics like runnin it into another air tank to be distributed, right? well any help is good help

I'm in the same boat as you Jason. I bought a set and also bought a reserve tank for them to fill into. The reasoning behind this is to compensate for the really tiny orifice that the regulators have. Other than that I believe they are fairly simple.

chris you right on it the scuba regulater out put it only 1/8 inch i think and the holding tank lets air flow from it at 1/2 inch so it is faster

i ran the scuba set up on my old tahoe. i had a line made 1/2 in from the hydo shop down the road. make sure your regulator is set on low. the tanks only hold 3000 psi. which sucks because if you think about it it takes normally 400psi to lift the whole truck. that means not much playing. also depending on the state you have to be scuba certified or they will not fill the tanks. u can also get them stamped for non-scuba use but most places still wont fill them. in my opinion it looks cool but i found it to be a giant pain the the ass. i just have a air zentith now. its reliable. nothing sucks worse than layin out and not having enough air to get back up.

You don't need a fill tank that will just waste air. unless your truck is really heavy it will lift it at a good rate of speed. Just plum it into your airlines and run it to your valves..........Chris if you have anymore questions call me

Just get a scuba single stage regulator and a Harris adjustable air/gas regulator and a few fittings and you are good to go. I can get it filled for 7$ and I don't have my scuba lisence. I just tell them I am using it for paintball.

Scuba tanks work great, I have been using them for about 7 years.
It can be tricky to get the right fittings to convert the regulator to pipe thread properly, you will have to make a trip to a good hydraulic supply store for fittings, it take 2 0r 3 to adapt it, so I've found.
I always ran an additional 3 or 5 gallon tank, you dont get a lot of flow out of the regulator, but it is always a consistent high pressure. Some regulators have 2 or 3 outlets which helps, just dont tap into the high pressure outlet, unless you are installing a high pressure gauge. most regulators are adjustable so you can get good pressure out of them. Most I have used one at is 225psi, with one 5 gallon tank and there was enough supply to hop it.
I would usually run electric compressors as well, then if your holding tank was empty or low, run the compressors to get it full, then open the scuba to top it up and keep it full. Plus if you run out of air in the scuba you will need to make some of your own air to get you home.
As far as how long they last, they last longer than most regular gas bottles that are filled to 2200 psi, I used to get about 2 weeks or regular use with mine. One tank would easily last a car show weekend with lots of playing or entering an air competition plus hooking up my air bagged couch! Plus they are a lot smaller and easier to move around.
