Bare metal
Epoxy primer
then body filler
another couple coats of epoxy
block
2k urethane
block reprime block as needed
Ething primer is old technology Epoxy is only way to go for superior corrosion protection plus ur filler work bites into epoxy better than bare metal and feathers out better. For those that are skeptical as i was LOL take a piece of metal grind to bare metal tape off one half then spray other half with epoxy, let it dry, wipe whole panel with filler of ur choice, let dry, then bend the metal. The filler will pop off bare metal easily where as it bites so hard on epoxy itll stretch and crack but stay stuck for much longer...........

When using an epoxy primer under your body filler, how long of a dry time are you giving it before topcoating with filler, and are you re-scuffing the surface for adhesion prior to filler?

I spray one day then start bodywork the next. They say u dont have to sand but i always block it out anyway just for assurance there is mechanical grip.........plus u can find low spots

Is there any published documentation recommending the usage of Epoxy primer as a substrate to body fillers by a paint manufacturer or body filler manufacturer? I'd like to read up on the subject but I have only encountered heresay.

Yes Mercedes Brenz will only warranty a repair if it is epoxy primed first do a search for their reapir procedures

I use this method day in day out for the past 5 years and jobs i did 5 years ago still look fresh so i guess ima good reference for that procedure LOL

wait but epoxy is only feasible for bare metal spots.i think its overkill to spray another couple of coats over filler...just my opinion and time wasted
