Whats the trick? It seems as though my ball joint is locked out before my truck will lay out. Are there replacement ball joints for hardbodies that have a few more degrees of travel? Flipping the control arm might work but then I run into the problem of locking out the ball joint when I lift it and I have to turn, lol. Size of wheel, 20x8 maybe 20x7.5? Offset? Any help would be great.

i dont have a hardbody yet but from what ive seen you need control arms or uni-ball ball joints or both

I bought mine the way it is in the pictures. But it was about an inch away from laying full frame with drop spindles, notch lower control arms, the firewall was pushed back some, the tire still layed on it. But you could always raise your upper control arm mounting point an inch or so and that will help you.

I have a 96 king cab on rocker i did 18/20 cuz my partner kept breakin ball joints on his with all 20's and he had drop spindles custom upper and lower arms gigantic firewall tubs and he still had issues so i gave up and made my truck so i could drive it safely when i want to...

Ya, I can't be breaking ball joints, it needs to be reliable. I drive more than 30 minutes to work one way when I drive it to work. I thought about moving the mounts up but I was hoping that there might be a ball joint out that would give me more travel. I already built control arms for the truck and had them chromed so I was hoping that I wouldn't have to wreck the chrome to alter them. Anyone flip their control arms over, pros and cons?

if you move the mounts, you'll probably end up with bumpsteer.

the best solution, is to reangle the balljoints. you could get away with maybe making an angled shim between you balljoint and the control arm. i had to do it on my isuzu and i havent had any problems with them at all.

yeah i think the green one from D.I.B customs flipped the stock ones on that green one with 22's u might should call them and ask bout it..

the green one on 22s turned the control arms and ball joints upside down. he may have also swapped sides (pass arm on driver side etc.)

just flip the upper control arms upside down. that will change the ball joint angle and instead of being pegged out on the ground, it's only bound up at full lift. it's a ghetto solution, but it works.

a 245 35 on a 20x8.5 with a +42 offset will tuck with 4x4 fenders and a early 90s yota axle. it's REALLY close, but it tucks. that should give you a good starting point for what to look for when buying wheels.
