ISOLATORS IN THIS APPLICATION ARE USED BECAUSE OF DIFFERENT RESISTANCE IN BATTERIES (I.E. DIFFERENT TYPES OF BATTERIES,OR KEY ON, KEY OFF BATTERIES) YOU WANT BOTH TO RUN CONSTANTLY, BOTH TO CHARGE CONSTANTLY, (WHICH IS HOW I'VE HAD MINE IN MULTIPLE SET-UP'S,) THEN JUST RUN THEM POS TO POS, NEG TO NEG, NO ISOLATOR. THIS WILL KEEP BOTH BATTERIES LIVE AT ALL TIMES, AND AS LONG AS THEY ARE THE SAME, WILL KEEP BOTH BATTERIES CHARGED EVENLY. THE ONLY TIME PEOPLE RUN INTO PROBLEMS IS WHEN THEY USE TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF BATTERIES, OR WHEN ONE BATTERY IS EXTREMELY WORN DOWN, OTHERWISE, THIS WILL WORK PERFECT FOR YOU.

^^^^ True but he already has one battery and is adding another. That's why I suggested an isolater. If he is getting two new ones then no I'd say he doesn't need one. Guess I should have explained a little more.

Then I wouldn't worry about the isolater.
