I've got a test pipe in my 2000 and I get an engine light. It's the only one that keeps coming back whenever I clear the ECU. You WILL get a check engine light if you are running a test pipe or hollowed out cat no matter if you leave the O2 sensors in or take them out but as far as i'm concerned trading that for a stock floored Tacoma is well worth it.

having the 02 sensors by themselves is useless, they need the cat for a good reading. Do a google search for tacoma 02 simms. they fool the computer into thinking that it is seeing ideal exhaust ocnditions and you only need one for the post cat sensor.

all that happens when you dont use the sensors is the check engine light comes on and the computer goes into a factory set loop mode for the settings..it MAY effect gas mileage but i drove my taco over a year like that and never noticed anything..so no it wont damage anything

Just get one from LC , their's are free flowing ,high perforance & stainless steel& smaller. Also less than the stock one.

I bypassed it on my truck. Went to my friends exhaust shop to buy one and he said I didnt need one. So I got a 2 1/4" high flow cat. You can pretty much see through it. And I just tied the sensor up on the frame. But then again I have a carbed motor..

if you want fuel milage keep the cat. if you want your motor to last keep the cat the o2 sensors left in the exhaust will diminish due to the excess of un burned gas the truck will run fine for awhile but the computer will sense a cat efficency problem and richin the fuel mixture cuase aload of fuel to be dumped into the motor youll change your plugs more often, your truck will smell like exhaust, u will smell like exhaust and youll visit the gas station more often it all depends if you want your truck to last you can fit the cat on a laying frame body dropped truck just move it up anyexhaust guy can do that i have had it done many time

^ yeah but its easier to take out Bobby!

I got a stainless high flow cat on mine. i ran mine with out cat for a while and noticed the drop in mileage so i put it back in.

take the catalitic converter out, have a hole cut in the pipe u are gonna put in it's place and put the oxygen sensor inhole and weld it in. I did my 96, never had any problems
