ported box louder?

Is a ported box louder than a sealed box?

it has several factors-airspace,vehicle,subs,power,tuning..etc.
you cant just port any box and expect improvement,has to be setup for porting

depends on specs of the sub, but the general answer is yes. a ported box is more efficient, but less musical. it has a more peaky response around the resonant frequency of the box, as a well designed sealed box can have a flat response across the board.

it is louder at the tuning frequency if built correctly.

which in a comp car is near the resonant frequency lol

does frequency goes hand in hand with the style of music? Exmaple....is rap @ 40hz, rock @ 60hz and jazz @ 50hz.

If so what is the most common frequency that people build boxes @?

We sell Pro Box and their boxes are usually tuned around 38hz. Use a sub sonic filter and more bass boost than gain.

Actually a Bandpass box is the loudest. not any of them prefab ones either.. just have to be very sure on sealin up the box or else it'll stress out your subs alot

look up this stuf on google. i found an awesome website with all specs from a range of stuff. pretty cool

while a bandpass is loud it also hides alot of distortion and bad signal which goes hand in hand with blowing subs not saying that a bandpass will blow your subs but you can get the same volumn out of a ported box built to the right spec and tuned to the right freq. for the sub
