it's random that you mention that, i was playing with that when i put the dash in. I pushed it in and can't get it back out. I was in a wreck about a year ago though. I pushed it in though before I tried starting it last night.

another question while i'm thinking of it. does anybody know what the black box is beside the radio on the passenger side. It looks like some sort of a control module. It keeps making this click sound like every 30 secs or so. Sounds like a relay clicking, it started doing it as soon as I plugged the dash in.

hmm sounds like you got some wires backwards.i bypassed my neutral safty switch cuz when i shortend my pedals it wouldnt go back on. what diagrams are you needing? also have you checked your battery and makin sure u have got enuf volts to crank it?y did you extend the wires to put the fuse box under the dash? there is PLENTY of slack to do it w/ only extending the ones needed for the motr and headlights.

the battery reads 12.4 or something around there with nothing attached, and 13.7 with the battery charger on it. The only wires that I extended were the ones going out to the engine bay. I moved it for looks and more wheel clearance.

the more wire diagrams the better, but no huge rush on them. I want to troubleshoot some more before i pull the dash back off and try tracing down all my wires and checking for continuity.

the more i think about it, the more i'm hoping that i just have the clutch plugs wires backwards. when I turn the key all the gauges act appropriately, as in lights turning off and what not. It's been a while since I've drove a manual but it's acting like what happens when you don't push in the clutch or like when starter kill is on with an alarm.

some rangers have an internal alarm type system...i am pretty sure that the modual you are talking about has to do with that system. if it were the inertia switch your ingnition would still crank because all that switch does is removes power from the fuel pump..if it wont even crank then it is defenatilt an elictrical problem. you can run a direct power to you starter and have the key in the on position and it may start but wont stay running for long... i have heard of this happening on rangers before which always makes me nervous when extending wires...not totally sure but somehting to think about...

i think the type you are thinking about are the rangers with the fatter keys have a transponder in them. At least that's what I think you are talking about, I have that in my explorer and I had to bypass it to put on my remote start.

yup thats only rangers w/ a PATTS system which is 00 later i think.
