Ok i need some expert help. i just brought the omni clear coat and i guessed i overly spray a think coat too fast. I started to see solvent pop from what i have read. what is a good wait time between coat for the clear? I am sprayin this on carbon fiber. This isnt the first time i had this problem. i also had this with the dupont nason clear.

it has to do with airflow too. not enough will make it pop. the best way to test flash time is touch a piece of tape that has clear on it. if it strings up (which is still kinda early) or it has a tacky feel to it(thats the best time) its time to re-coat. it all depneds on how you spray and mix it.

also reducing it will help, about 10 to 20 percent(depending on how you spray)

number one problem is that you are using OMNI clear....Ive never had good luck with that stuff. Like Dennis said, there would be 2 reasons for solvent pop: not enough air flow, putting the clear down too thick with not enough flash time. Next time get a scrap peice of something and clear it with the panel. You can use the scrap peice to test the flash time, that way you dont mess up the actual peice you are clearing.

Not to ruin your day but it is probaly not solvent pop it is pin holes in the resin of the carbon fiber which is good and bad if you painted it then you can skim coat it with a filler if you were just adding clear then its a pain you can mix some clear up and drip it in the pin holes let it cure and sand them down and reclear it, and yes even if you based it and then cleared it you can still get pin holes I know because I have had to fix them before. Good luck

it is most likely solvent pop. When i look close i can see little bubbles.all over. I have seen pins hole before and this is not one of them. I guess the reason is that i was laying too think of a layer on before flash time. THis is the first time i am using omni as i have read there are good words bout it so decide to get a gallon of this stuff.

First thing to do is to never use Omni clear again.

that is true too, mostly pin holes sink but i have had occaions where pinholes have popped. if it is raw carbon dont even try to paint it!

omni clear and nason clear.

You sure blew the budget on those.

Steer clear of all that garbage. I use the nason clear on writeoffs that I fix. And I wouldnt even use the omni on my lawnmower.

If your getting solvent pop, then wetsand it, and re clear it, with just 1 coat. You should be able to hide it.
