well guys its back, only with a vengence, ha! Truck has been running great all day, but then all of a sudden, BAM! Nothing. Wont even idle for more than 10-20 seconds at best, still starts strong, and is even alternating between strong idle and 2 or 3 cylinders out like idle. Im thinking my coil packs are shorting in and out, Should i replace them?

My 96 Ranger kept doing that. Ended blowing the PCM fuse evreytime. After several months, several fuses, and a cracked windshield, it ended up being the wire harness that goes to the computer. While messing with harnes while the veh was running you could see the wire arc against the enginge. If you take the cover off the wire harness there is about 300 hundred wires under it. You will notice a couple of wires are bare. I took electrical tape and ran tape around all the wires making sure they were tight and none of the bare wires were touching. Then put the cover back on and haven't had anymore problems. This might help...

Thanks for all the info guys, I'm gonna try all this stuff tomorrow along with checking the gap on the plugs, that 3 cyl running yesterday made me think I need to check em, I've got a new fuel pump relay, and I've swapped it with the ac and eec power relay and still the same thing. Hopefully I can stay away from the shop with this one!
