ok guys we redid the tranny one got rid of the other one near the rear. now the front crossmember def is similar to a yotas in which we had to z mine on the yota. im think if we dont z u will get the goofy stance where the front sits higher than the rear. and we cant have that! without front suspension and crossmember on the ground the frame under the firewall is off the ground with the rear layed out. so we have to z?????
next we cut osome of the spring pocket and the trouble is that the upper control arms balljoint binds.
and no one makes uppers or lowers, so i figure we will pie cut the uppers to get more play outta the balljoints.
next how muck of the pocket should we cut out?

I think its different between the years. Mine is laying the fornt crossmember on the ground right now with out the suspension bolted back in and it lays full frame. Someone on the mightyd50 website said that on some you have to and on some you dont. I think its the difference in the years. Mines a 89. Isnt the one you guys are workin on newer?

well mine is an 88 and if I layed mine out with/without suspension in the front I still wouldnt lay FULL frame. I modidfied my front so hopefully when I am done it will lay full frame. So you can disagree all you want with me about Z'ing but this is how my truck is. I also rebuilt all my crossmembers so it will lay.

damn that looks pretty good....but does the bag touch that upper gusset when layd out? also got any pics of this truck

bag has 1/2 inch of clearance all the way around, If you build the upper plates wider, and set it up just right, you can fit a 7" bag like this. I got this front end setup from krz customs. They used to do all the mitz's this way. Its stronger than just trimming the pockets out... the pockets tend to rip off when just trimmed and using cups. Did you notice how i moved the strut rod/ tensioner rod to the bottom side of the control arm. This is important as to get the lower bag plate lower, and if you leave it on top and move your plate in towards the frame, the bolt heads rub holes in the bag and the bag rubs on the frame when layed out.

the truck we are working on is a 95
those are good pics thanks alot. thast just the way we where going to do it, wiht the gussets and all. also we had the same idea on cutting a hole so we can tighten the bag to the top plate.
thanks alot!!
did u have to fab the upper arms? will your truck lay out fully? the ball joints on ours bind up.

this is a customers truck. Its a 94. This is like my 8th front end of a mitz. Every one I have done I have not had to do anything to the upper arms and they have all layed out fully. One even on navigator 18's w/o spindles. Spindles are the best way to go rather than having to cut into ur upper arms.

just thought id bring this thread back, since I'm about to Z the front of my Mitsu. Miine lays out on the drag link for the steering and the engine crossmember before the frame underneath the firewall lays out. and ive already redone all the crossmembers. So any advice on Z'ing the frame?
