Yea, head work is pricey. It sounds like its worth it to me. And just have the block checked. The cylinders might be straight. But if not, boring is cheap. Like I said, acid dipped and bored, under $200.

my rebuilt 22re head was 300 bucks with gaskets. engine gasket set 100. oil pump thirty so on. i say its worth it for this head alone.
