Anyone done the conversion or checked it out at least? I've got a 91 2600I and want to put a TRUSTY 2200 engine in it, haven't researched it yet, but just asking if anyone's checked it out, if you haven't, DON'T Responed!

you'll need the 2200 tranny too, but otherwise its striaght forward.

If you are putting in a carb 2200, you'll need to change the fuel pump in the tank to a low pressure type. To keep it simple I'd say put in a weber and a header at the same time. Otherwise you'll be swapping most of the harness from the 2200 donor.

Other than losing about 30 hp, its a good swap, the 2600i heads are flawed. If you havent cracked it yet, its only a matter of time....

Hey Russ, can you swap out a 2.0 block for a 2.2 and just bolt it up with no problems?

its a bolt in. Although I remember you have to use the mounts that come on your original engine. Same block tho

the mazda b2600i motor mounts on the trucks frame are different than the b2200 and b2000 trucks- be aware- you will have to cut them off the frame and weld in the b2200 mounts. My truck started life as a b2600i truck, now it's a fe3 b2000i...hehe

yea, you have to change over the motor mounts, i helped a guy do the reverse swap, yanked the 2200 motor out and put a 2600i motor in. like russ said, when you get your donor truck, just take the whole wiring harness, it all unplugs. when i did the swap, i swapped the harness under the dash too. so it all plugged back in, except for the ground your have to bolt down. its a pretty straight forward swap
