Okay, say you have a short bed Toyota and you swap in a Chevy small block. Its carbed, and you had EFI. If you find the same model truck that is a diesel, you can buy it, and swithc Vin tags and all that. Then put yours on the diesel and have it scrapped. They will take your title and dispose of it. Now you have a "diesel" truck with a 350, and you don't have to have it smogged. You don't smog diesels. My friend bought a Volvo wagon with a 350 that was registered that way. No smog, no problems.
