ok my n my friend are arguing bout this,is it better to have a 1ch amp or a 2ch amp wen running (2) 12's.my subs are 1400w n the amp im lookin at is 2000w 1ch.he sed jus "splice" the wires,he sed that thats better than hookin the subs up to an 2ch amp,wat yall think?

Go with the class d 1 channel amp they were designed just 4 subs and they put less strain on ur electrical system 2 channel amp were designed 4 full range speakers and when using subs in a ported box u need a subsonic filter and only class d amps have them

If your going more for SQ alot of guys run stereo amps "because thats how its recorded" , but the class D sub amps are more effecient with power so you'll see less headlight dimming and such.

is nobody going to ask you what ohms your subs are? that's what makes a huge difference in what amp you can run in comparison to what ohm it's stable at.

I guess I'll ask.

what ohms are your subs, and how many voice coils do they have?

2 single voice coil 4 Ohm subs are perfect for most mono block amps. 2 dual 4 ohm voice coil subs are better pushed by a 2 channel.

its 4ohms w/ a 4 layer,long voice coil

don't know what the 4 layer really means, but what i'm gathering is that it's a single voice coil. There is only 1 positive and 1 negative terminal on the back of each sub correct?
