at the going rate of copper, stainless is actually cheaper. I paid 130 for 50 feet of 1/2 copper the other day, and I bought 70 feet of 3/8 stainless for about 105. I think 1/2 would have run about 125. Also, the fittings for stainless are cheaper, between the flare fitting, nut and ring, I spend about 2.50 for 1/2 by 1/2 90 degree fittings, whereas copper can be pushlocks (5.00 and up here, for the good ones) or compression (3.00 and up, don't always work good) I have never had good luck flaring copper on a moving vehicle, even if the line is clamped down well, copper is so soft the flare seems to eventually leak. Just my opinion.
