A lot of people seem to have issues with this. I've looked at a couple of shots of 2wd edge frames, the front clip looks very similiar. what's keeping the edges from laying out?

Also the lower arms look very similiar to factory 2wd rangers. Anyone ever try using djm arms for my style ranger on an edge? I've seen a lot of people ask this on other sites. Just trying to ask people who have gotten theirs to lay without swapping clips, or a massive Z for a sfbd. I'm discussing just a bag job, not bd'd.

as for the arms, they are totally different. to get them to lay build a new frame you have to cut the bump stop mount completly off and make it so the control arm will go up higher. the engine xmember hangs down about 2 more in than the 98 + 2wd ranger.

The engine crossmember is prolly what's holding all these guys up. I've looked at a couple of them that are just bagged and it looks like a 5/7 drop. Do you know if there is room on the engine crossmember to just take it off the bottom, or does the whole engine sit that much lower?

z'ing the frame would allow them to lay out. But also i've seen 1 edge laying out on what appeared to be the tranny crossmember, it hung WAY down there. it was in truckin, i blieve the white and orange firestone truck built some years ago

yeah, but z'ing the frame 4" would almost put the engine into the hood if the crossmember is 4" tall.

if it hangs the below the very bottom of the frame 4", then yeah.. but, you can z it some and then crossmember drop it the rest, or all crossmember drop it (i dont know if you can, havent touched a new edge yet), totally new engine crossmember, front clip swap, full frame..

but i'm gonna say, the time and money spent into a crossmember drop and Z, would be about the money for a frame.

build a new frame LOL! or just swap to a 98 up frame. the body mounts are different to so it will sit lower on a 98 up frame ya know i think there is room to raise the LCAs up and trim the xmember off. its ben a while since i looked at an edge(i could go look at my fx4 since its the same suspension lol)

that's what it sounds like. I know most people just build a whole new frame. But honestly, at that point time why buy a damn edge to begin with. You can do a front end swap for that kind of money.

I'm just trying to find out some details that might help some peeps out. I would like to see how "thick"/tall the engine crossmember is. I know on my bodystyle, you can't take any of the bottom because that's where the damn control arm mounts. Wanted to see if it's the same for the edges.

doooooooo it, haha. I don't know anybody with one but people are asking questions all the time about how to lay them out. Figured I would get some info so they can at least have some options instead of clip it or do a ginormous z.

some of the guys are talking about putting the bags on the torsion bars. Which falls under the category of there's no way in hell you'll lay out with those still in their.

exactly y buy a base model 4x4 minus the 4x4 the cross memeber is just as thick as yours, i just looked at mine BUT the rack n pinion goes right inside the xmember above the front of the control arm. there easy to lower tho
