Been running mine for about 5 months and the only thing it did for a hile was burn my electrical because i was running all 12 wga but then i swapped it to all 8wga and a 60 amp fuse and no problems. Im running it w/ a 200psi on a 7 gallon tank on my daily.

can you move the mounts on a AZ comp the same as you can on a viair? so you can mount the comp on the side of your chassis rail and still the pump head is vertical to the ground.

the problem is people keep running them with high pressure switchs and dont let them cool off. thats the problem with any compressor. so people can talk shit all they want about AZ but they are by far the best value on the market bar none

i disagree with only one thing that you said, the part about the best value on the market, i myself would go with the vi air 480 dual pack for 379.99, 2 vi air 480s and a pressure siwtch, relays and inline fuse, cchrome, much better value and two times the pump./

go with the viair 480 i love mines fills up just as quick and less noise and easy to fix if anything goes wrong with them... i had an az and it burned up on me some how .... i only ran 160 psi and turn it on for honeslty... all together ... about 10 minutes a day with the viair i could run that shit all day long and no probs what so ever its always been like that... as long as you have the right relays fuse it and ... yeah...

agreed

ther is a reason viair has been around 10yrs, they make a good pump, although i do support the az when it comes to breaking down, there customer service and replacement or repair warrantee blows vi air out of the water.

Number one thing causing them to go out is people are running them @ 100% Duty, and high Pressures... I have a AZ comp that I've had for 8 months now, and have had no problems but it's also run by a 175 psi pressure switch, and a 80 amp breaker.

Yeah my 2-AZ'z have been pretty good, other than the fact that they were melting the fuses and draining power, upgraded to a 150amp breaker and a 250amp alternator... no problem since, they're pumping 190psi hella fast. They've been kickin ass for 8months now. can't beat the price at FBI $245... In my opinion

UMM.... yeah, Viair's been around for awhile granted;..........but the owner of Air Zenith who is also the cheif engineer, desgned 90% of all of Viair's compressors. yep, paul @ AZ used to work as the cheif engineer at Viar for quite along time. He applied what worked with the viar's, improved upon them, and when viar wouldn't market them because costs for them to stop production of their existing units and go to the new designs was too high for them,...........well, he did what anyone of us would do............started his own company. Now he has a truely family owned business. His family manufactures the electrical motors for the pump from his specs, they produce and cast the pistons, the little o-rings, the cases, everything. Nothing on a AZ is outside purchased. they are truely made in-house. Something Viar could never claim to do as all of their units are designed, engineered, tested and manufactured overseas. While AZ units are manufactured overseas, they are designed and partially assembled here in the states. So, given the farily new product line AZ is producing, it is a far superior product, the life of the units WHEN USED AND OPERATED WITHIN IT'S MEANS far outlasts any other compressor and requires zero maintenance. The problems associated with AZ are relative to electrical theory and principle. For example: a compressor works less than half as hard to produce 140 psi than it does to produce 180 psi. Very few vehicles out there need 180 psi to lift. Most people just like how quick it is going up. But, back to the point, when an electric motor is working harder (i.e. high pressure levels) it will correspondingly pull more amperage from an electrical circuit, (in this case, the vehicles battery's and or charging system), also, in drawing amperage, it produces heat, heat is a by product of electrical current. These two factors together are 99% of all electrical failures, whether it is in an a/c system in a home, home wiring, automitive wiring, audio etc etc.

As stated, if a unit is used within reason, it will last for many years to come. Granted at some point, it will probobly need a rebuild, but it is a good unit. I have had AZ's for sometime now and use to drive the vehicle every day. i'm not switch happy and play with the bags constantly, but i did use them alot at certain times. Still, i experienced no problems, and know of multiple top quality vehicles which have had no problems with the AZ units. Do a correct install, ensure the electrical system is up to the task INCLUDING WIRING, and don't be outrageous with pressure levels and the AZ units will prove itself without a doubt.

kind of how the gc desingner left gc and made extreme, that worked out real well, not 1/2 the product gc is, but sam i agree with you, the only thing to be reproduced rescently and imporved upon are the can do arms, as far as someone elses design goes, anyway, i love both, but i think for the price and amount of pump you get the vi air 480 dual pack is a better deal, now granted the dual pack is not available, i may spend the extra 30 on the az and run that, but nice explanation.
