Check you VIN number on your truck. Use this list below to help you Identify your truck. I got this from my online chilton manual. Each digit of your VIN number means different things. The 8th Digit tells you the engine type. I hope this helps you out.
Digits 1, 2 and 3-Vehicle Make Identification (in this case, it is always Isuzu)
Digit 4-Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) range in lbs. (B=3001-4000, C=4001-5000, D=5001-6000, E=6001-7000, F=7001-8000, G=8001-9000)
Digit 5-Chassis Type
Digit 6 and 7-Vehicle Line Model (01=Amigo, 11=1/2 ton, short bed Pick-up, 14=1/2 ton, long bed Pick-up, 16=Space CB Pick-up, 34=1 ton Pick-up, 55=2-door Trooper II, 57=2-door Trooper, 58=Rodeo or 4-door Trooper and Trooper II)
Digit 8-Engine Identification (B=1981-83 1.8L, S=1981-87 2.2L diesel, A=1984-87 2.0L, L=1986-95 2.3L, U=1986-87 2.2L turbocharged diesel, E=1988-96 2.6L, R=1989-91 2.8L, Z=1991-94 3.1L, V and W=1992-96 3.2L, 4=1996 2.2L Gasoline)
Digit 9-Check Digit
Digit 10-Model Year (B=1981, C=1982, D=1983, E=1984, F=1985, G=1986, H=1987, J-1988, K=1989, L=1990, M=1991, N=1992, P=1993, R=1994, S=1995, T=1996)
Digit 11-Manufacturer Plant
Digit 12-Except Hombre models = Destination; Hombre models = first digit of Production Sequence Number
Digits 13-17-Production Sequence Number (on the Hombre, the 12th digit is also part of this number)
