just curious...

Do you guys think its possible for someone with NO welding experience, to be able to do body mods like shaved handles, roll pans etc and frame mods?

What would be a good way to learn?

I use a Miller 185 for my frame work and a Lincoln 135 for my sheet metal/body work

I got a Lincoln powermig 255 a few years ago from linde gas for like 1500 otd. I can weld what ever I need to and still does sheetmetal very well. I wish I would of bought a multi process machine that I could do tig with also but at the time I didn't have the cash. From my experience buy bigger to begin with then when you need its there and you don't have to go buy a bigger one later.

Learn on scrap metal for frame work, never a vehicle to start with because its not only for your safety but everyones on the road. I have seen people learn on their own trucks and have had stuff break and luckily they didn't kill themselves.

You can always tack stuff up then take it to a professional to have them weld it up good. Costs a little but better then being broke down in the middle of nowhere.

Learning to shave stuff on your truck isn't a good Idea if your not careful and warp the hell out of a doorskin or somethin.

i'd agree wtih guilty, i have had a few and the miller 210 seems to be the best all around style of welder. (that is non tig)
