i just bought a 14 foot aluminum boat for $190 it has 3 seats perfect for what i need it for. so i tested it out putting water in it liek a inch or so and it leaks in a few spots one spot i needed to put new rivits in it but i didnt use the 2 piece rivets i used the regular automotive rivets and used marine type sylicone to go over it and that seemed fine but there is other spots on the boat there its riveted on the seems and there is a stretch of 6 inches on the seam where it leaks. im not sure if i can use the silicone on that too or if there is a paint i can use that will fill in the holes. any help will do thanks

were the rivits are that are leaking get a buddy and one persone and a mall agaist the inside part and you hit the out side part with a hammer that will work or just get some JB weld

i was going to use jb weld or some aluminum solder but im not sure because the boat flexes alot since its aluminum and jb weld isnt flexible. so i was going to pop out the old rivets and put silicone in the seam and then re rivet it.

silicon will only hold for a littel wiel....man i saw some stuff at the boat show last year and i cant think of it,it looks like a welding rod but you put it on like you were brazing something to gether with a butain torch i cant think of it but go to your local boat store and ask them

ya its liek a aluminum solder i saw it on tv its called alumoloy it melts like solder but harder then the aluminum itself but im not sure about the flex in the boat if it will crack or anything

dont thik so but that would be the first thing id try i know at the boat show they did a hell of an demonstration of that product (but i think that would be better than anny thing else ..i know silicon will peel off after time
