i might leave something out, b/c i havent ever done it. but you can successfully weld to it, that is how civic spindles get sectioned to lay them out. Anyways, the process is.

heat cast to 400 degrees, then you can mig your mild steel to it, wrap it in a heat blanket, so it cools very slowly..

I was told to weld to cast you need to heat it red hot then weld it with a nickel rod then let it cool very slowly.

I've always just weld really hot to casting. Never had a problem.

turn the heat on your welder very hot and your wire low...we've been doing it for about 5-6 years never had a problem
