why so many Chevys??

I have to disagree with the above statement on ride quality. EVERY Ford I have ever owned has been a MUCH better ride than any of my Chevys......NIGHT and DAY difference.
Chevys are cheaper to lower than the Fords. You have to buy drop beams for the Ford (6-800 $$$).

I switched to Chevy way back in 94 when I bought my first fullsize. At first it was for the aftermarket parts availability....But the Chevy power hooked me(dad always drove(still does) Ford trucks. I did have a 2001 Ford crew Cab Superduty with the 7.3 for a spell- and loved the truck(though my 89 Crew Dually rides better), I hated that I couldn't slam the truck without extensive modifications.

I do prefer my square Chevys appearance but I've always been curious about why I never see square '80s Fords slammed. And really I almost never see '80s Ford duallys around anymore...

Cause they're all in the junkyards now!

really IMO, The chevy is easier to mess with.
-Ford = twin eye beam front end
-Dodge = the 90's have the awkward fenders
-Chevy= IFS front end, normal body lines




If you do a ford, you might as well plan on swapping the entire front suspension.

Im sure somebody will have an opposing opinion out there but thats my 2 cents.

Either way, chevy is the best of all worlds combined, hands down. (you can have your cake, and eat it too)

IMO the best truck ever built wouldve been a cummins powered chevy as a factory design.

I really have a soft spot for the 80-96 Fords, but it's hard to get a big Ford down deep on I-beams. Even with 3" beams and 3" springs, the Fords only look like they have a 2"-3" drop compared to the GM w/ a 6". I don't know what it is. Something about the body lines or something...they just never really look "slammed".
