OK lets see if I can wright this so every one can understand.
I'm building a chev crew cab that was 3/4T, now I've changed it to 1/2T but I'm still using the 3/4T springs front & rear with helper bags on the rear.
along with a inch an 1/8 rear sway bar and the plan is for a wide wheel out back to help stablize it. now heres my question, do you all think that it will be enough truck to pull a 40' inclosed gooseneck?
horse power and torq is not a problem I'm more conserned that the trailer might want to push the truck around

I just found a trailer that has living quarters, work benches, awning, and generator for 8 grand
sorry lock I might buy a trailer before I buy my wheels

I think you would be OK pulling that trailer with the truck.

so basically all you did was turn it from 8 lug to 5, but still using all the heavier susp stuff right?.... then pulling that trailer should be no issue at all susp wise, only hting i would be the slightest bit worried about is braking with the 5 lug stuff being smaller, id be damn sure the trailer had brakes that worked good.

The one thing my Dad has drilled into my head about towing is this: It's not so much getting it rolling, so much as it's getting it stopped.

It's hard to tell. You can definately tow it. Towing it safely might be an issue. My 3/4 ton 4X4 Suburban's towing capacity is 6500 lbs. Thats what Chevy says anyway. I know they underrate those trucks just to be on the safe side, so I'm thinking I could push that to at least 7500 lbs.

I guess my next question to you would be how much does the trailer weigh?

Side note: Damn dude, with all those duallys you got laying around, why are you even trying to fool with towing it with a 3/4 ton Frankenstien?

1. Because its a rusting hulk of crap, with all the suspension components stripped off of it and a blown motor and no trans.

2. It's sitting, on blocks, in between two crusty, broke-dick dozers in my Cousins equipment yard in Escondito. Thats about 100 miles south of me. I don't get down there much.

3. It's really just a beater. It was my ride for my Senior year of high school and shortly thereafter. It was an old landscaping truck. No carpet, no power ANYTHING, no A/C. When the motor blew I decided I was tired of sweating my balls off in the SoCal heat, so I parked it.

I was going to get her back on the road, but the cost involved would be way more that just buying a newer, cleaner truck. Time passed, and I got offered some cash (I was broke at the time) for the drop kit, then the trans, then the rear end, etc. You see where this is going?

Honestly, I think I just might scrap it. It sits in a heavy equipment yard in the hot-ass San Diego sun and rots away. Theres not a straight panel on it. It's riddled with rust. It was "accidentally" "bumped" by a D-6, which resulted in both passenger side doors being caved in and the rear fender being splintered to hell and back. Theres not one piece of glass in the thing thats still intact. Any piece of sheet metal that was relatively straight, is now long gone. Really it's just a sad shell of its former, mediocre self. Plus, my cousins really been getting on my ass about it. I think he just wants an excuse to run it over with his D-8. Which would be kinda cool actually...

Basically, if you want to know what it looks like, go to a Pick And Pull, or similar boneyard, and find an 87 C-30 crew cab. Probably looks real similar to my truck now. All the good stuff is long gone, leaving only the junk behind. But if you want pics, I'll see what I can do. It would probably only be front and rear views, because the two dozers, one on each side, that don't run, make it difficult to get a side shot. However, if I decide to run it over, I'll definately get pics of THAT!!!

I don't care what state your in, when it's over 95 degrees and your in a big block powered truck with no air and vinyl seats, your gonna sweat your balls off.
