My friend has a standard cab Hardbody and we plan to backhalf it. The bed on it is trashed and we came across a 4X4 ex-cab bed for free. I what do you guys think about changing the wheelbase to whatever it needs to be when we do the backhalf, and then just make the new bedmounts where needed???

This will make his wheelbase shorter, RIGHT??? Or will it make it longer???

yeah like said eailier , the king cab bed IS .75" longer , and the wheel house is in a dif location... but if your redo'n the back frame , go for it , move'n the axle to the needed spot... just need a shorter driveshaft, or maybe a king cab driveshaft , and not sure, but move'n the bed mounts too... and im sure theres other things you need to move as well.... good luck... . shoot some pics as you go...

Dan had a standard cab Hardbody a couple years ago that came with an extended cab bed, and it was about 3" off from lining up the wheel- the wheelwell was closer to the cab. This would just mean moving everything forward a bit and shortening the driveshaft. I think it will look cool- almost like the "shorties" they're doing over in Australia!

Sweet.... well it's gonna look killer but I don't wanna shorten my wheelbase... I need a new standard cab bed... I have a straight king cab bed and a dented up standard cab bed sitting here to get rid of... anyone need a bed/need to get rid of a standard cab bed in WA?
