If you plan on doing any serious towing you need a diesel period. Nothing will out pull, out last, or get better fuel economy than a diesel. But then again some people don't like the noise. The new duramaxes are good engines, and contrary to what some believe the old 6.5's were fine if you knew how to drive a diesel and maintain one. Good luck to you

the 6.5 are indestrcutable.... the injector pumps on the is another story.

go with a small block so when your towing it sounds like its coming apart
with my 85 when I towed with it I just tried to keep it wound up so I could keep up with traffic and when I'd hit a pass my gas milage would go from 11 to maybe 3 mpg BUT I WAS DOING 55

well i dont have the Cash flow for a DuramaX At the moment, and i figured id go 454 since i will be towning with her... might not be the Best for fuel Mileage but i'll Drive Her Until i CANT...
