how did you mount the center mount of canti bar? is it a heim joint or is it something like a 4-link bushing? if you have any pic of the mount that would be helpful. thanx

good luck with that 4 link bushing, i'd save your self the trouble and mount a baring in there, my 4 link bushing lasted one 5 hour drive to reso, and i limped it home and pressed two barings in there with a brass sleeve and it's been good for three years since.

your 4 link rides on bushiongs for miles and miles.. i'm gonna guess u had something misaligned.. i'll be used offroad bushings with a zerk fitting in the bolt to grease them at the pivoting point and some badass heims from a place cris posted awhile back.

You would be assuming wrong, because it sheared both sides of the bushing. On a cantilever your multiplying the amount of stress on that pivot point alot more. You can alomst never go wrong with over engineering something.

Weight can be a biproduct of over engineering alot of times..

yes, but in the case of using a standard inexpensive baring in the place of a cheap 4 link bushing, to give it a longer safer life, weight has nothing to do with over-engineering.
