What is the best bag setup for high horsepower applications. A guy wants me to bag his truck but he uses it at the track occasionally. I was thinking of using a tri-4 link or a wishbone, but wasnt sure about the bag placement to eliminate wheel hop. I hae my bags on my bars and I've never had wheel hop. Hopefully the suspension guru Max will chime in. THanks guys.

i don't know, but air ride , in my personal experience, doesn't seem to be very good for drag racing. it's too spungy like a caddy. less you air it up to like 100+ psi

there is a bagged truck that runs 9's,near where i live, and he's just running a parallel(sp?) four link with a panhard bar with the bags about 3/4 of the bag and it works great for him, no wheel hop at all

a friend of mines dad has a prostreet s10 that they built and they have air ride technologies shockwave kit in the front and he claims they make a kit for the back thats nhra approved but idk ive never seen them ....... in my opinion i wouldnt put airbags on the back especially if u want it to hook up, but if u did id say just put the parallel fourlink and place the bags like u would if u ran coil overs

I'd say use a parallel 4 for the link if he's going straight. I've seen a few of those used.

alot of top fuel and funney cars are bagged in the rear they use the air to eliminate chassis twist so im pretty sure it will work on a street truck. id deffinitely go with a fourlink deffinitely ran forward but i wouldnt run the bags on the bars since it would soften the ride.
this would be my guess im positive on the forward placement of the bars but whether to use a paralell or tri i dont know
id go paralell with a wattslink not a pan hard since it would shift the axle when laidout and the watts would hold it in tight

It's straight and i'm not talking like 800 horsepower. It's a 2003 Dodge ram Quad cab with the 4.7 with nitrous and super chip. It's nothing amzing. He just don't want any wheel hop.

WHAT?! HAHA....sorry. But neither funny cars, nor top fuel dragsters have airbags.....they dont even have suspension. They are solid mount cars.

Second....NHRA rules will not allow it

third......no serious drag racer is going to use to use an adjustable sytem of this fashion for any type of competitive sportsman classes. too many variables, too much inconsistency. Air pressure changes with temperature which can create adverse effects on car handling. Consistency is key and having a properly set up chassis is important

Ok, the trick is to run a foward link system of some sort (obviously) with the instant center somewhere around the middle of the motor and slightly high, maybe 3' off the ground.

Make sure, if you do this, to do your homework on roll steer. An instant center that is slightly high will induse roll-oversteer. It can be controled by angling the bars (overhead view) in a certain fasion. Look up "Satchell Link" to understand what I am talking about.
