ha ha ha read my profile..... i had a bagged and bodydropped toyota tacoma fully shaved and all, i put a big motor in it and I HATED IT! i took them freakin bags off so fast, i tried 2 link w/ panhard bar, triangulated 4-link and a reverse 4-link. sure you can set it up to not wheel hop, thats not a problem.. the problem is when you launch. YOU ARE GONNA HAVE AXLE WRAP! no matter how your rear suspension is set up, the bags give into the torque and twist or flex somehow. every time you launch the rear end is gonna want to squat, which will throw your pinion angle off a slight bit and make you tear up rear-ends. when the bags try to squat, you lose your force that should propel the vehicle forward off of the line. the bags lettin the suspension flex makes you lose valuable tenths of a second sitting at the line while the suspension flexes and shimmies into position before the power is delivered to the drive wheels. i tried for three years to make the bags work on my truck, i gave up and am currently running drag race coil-overs. tell him one or the other, cruising and riding low=bags going fast=springs

If your 4-link was flexing because it was held up by bags and not springs, you have a different issue. Just because you couldn't figure it out doesn't mean that it can't be done. I don't care if you use springs, bags or a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to hold the car off of the ground. If the 4-link is designed improperly it isn't going to work.

The only issue that bags have as springs is it is hard to pinpoint a springrate. If you call the tech guys @ Firestone ind. they can give you an idea of how to calculate springrate.

Honestly shocks have as much if not more of an impact on a transient "hit" like a launch then springs (or bags.) Using a "drag" shock with dial in valving can make tuning much easier.

Also limiting the travel to 8" will ensure a less "compliant" suspension that will lend itself to a good launch and not to absorbing the stored energy in your tires.

a parallel 4-link with the bags behind the axle seeems to be one of the best drag setups for launching

it's good to see people in this line of work that care about there job as much as you. Most people that acheave a skill level like that move on to other things. If I didn't love my job so much I would have moved on due to the lack of respect it has earned.

Where can I get this so -called "peanut butter and jelly sandwich" I keep hearing about and does it really add 20 horsepower?

i asked my automotive instructor and he said that its better just using the peanut butter without the jelly.

Don't mean to steal your thread here but what kind of link setup is best for cornering in high speeds. Everyone says forward but what type of link? Triangular, wishbone, parallel ??

Personally, in this situation I would use a parrallel 4-link and watts link with bags on the front side of the axle and adjustable shocks over the axle and outside of the frame. I would use a stiffer bag and small valves, in order to dial in the best sping rate.
