yup i would look into soda blasting tho. its non abrasive to the metal(doesnt make it rough)

jance were u get the media from? i need some more for my cabinet.

I got it at HarborFrieght.com They have retail stores that sell it, I didn't buy it online but that is where I bought it from. I think it was $25 for 25 lbs. Works great!

ok, i have been building high dollar street rods for the last 6 years, i will never touch a car unless it has beensabdblasted. what we do is have the outside of the body blasted with sand, then the jambs and all the hard to reach areas are blasted with glass. The glass etches the metal as its hitting it so u dont need to do anything to it before u prime it. on the sandblasted panels, i would use 80grit on a da, and scuff everything, clean really good with a wax and grease remover, then shoot dupont dtm primer over it, Direct To Metal, it is really nice stuff, they offer it in 4 different colors, i always use black, easier to see the damamge, and u can do bodywork right over the top of it. Hope that helped.
