i got the gravity fed HVLP guns because i got a good deal on them and im not one for cheap stuff so instead of buying cheapys and upgrading later, might as well learn with the good stuff (gun wise). but yeah the clear coat is a decent clear, its not the best but its not the cheapest either...ive been mixing it 4:1 and i believe i put 3 coats on. which is why its so thick. i cut and buffed the desk already and the client was very happy with the way it came out and so was i but if i can lay the clear better it wouldnt take as much time wet sanding. im using all HVLP fittings with 3/8 line. im about to paint my engine bay and but because of certaint areas in there i would like to lay the clear as best as possible because its harder to get a buffer into some spots. ive also been spraying at around 40-45 psi, if i turn the psi down into the 30 range and move the gun faster back and fourth as i spray overlapping 50% this should help rid the orange peel right? thanks so much guys for your help. since ive started painting stuff and learning about this more and more i feel like i made a good investment buying all this stuff so i can do it on my spare time.

no ur pressure is right for the hvlp gun. youll just have to find the right technique for the results your looking for, overlapping 50% is always a must.

oh okay cool, i know with the primer at like 30psi, it just dripples and splatters out. when i painted that metal desk, i didnt do the 50% overlap. ill be sure to do that this time around and see how it comes out. my interior came out okay except for the clearing part. when it gets warmer ill probably take it out sand it down and reclear all that. trial and error is the best way to learn i guess. thanks for all the help!
