Lord have mercy, I've spent all the time i've gotten since I got back from Basic and AIT training on getting my ol' 98 s-10 mini going again. When I left it ran, when I came back it's all to pieces LOL.

Here's what I Know:1. I put a battery charger on the batt (because batt was dead)2. I turn the key forward, and sometimes I get the lights working etc and the interior panels come on, sometimes they dont)3. I dont' hear the fuel pump kick in.4. When I try to start it, all I hear is clicking.

I am a novice with electrical work, so if you have an answer, put it in the simpliest terms possible.

okay, i'll go buy a new batt, let me ask you this, where and how many grounds are supposed to be on a 98 s-10 2.2l auto.

a ton.. but for actual motor, i believe its engine to frame, battery to frame, battery to motor..

exactly right

know where i could get a book or something on all the electrical crap, i swapped my front end from a 98 back to a 94-97 and i bagged the rear and removed all the grounds connected to all those related components, and it's been so long since i've dug into the truck i dunno where to begin.

on my 93 the battery is grounded to the core support along with the pass side headlight/marker lights.

the battery is grounded to the frame on a bracket down there somewhere.

engine to frame ground i am not sure where its at.

yours will prob be different, but ground those things in the places i listed in my post 2 up from this and it will be fine, regardless where they are.

ten four on that, i've pretty much decided to strip the front end back down, to just frame and motor and see if i can get it to start and once i get it started, then piece the front end back together, because I feel like something up there is the problem.

good luck with it.

as for your wiring. call up any dealership with a service area. if they are nice, they will make copies of it all for you. our local dealership will and will answer any questions u have.
