Yes, somewhere around the middle of the grille is great. There is a really large area that will work well for everyday driving, it just get smaller when you are trying to acomplish something specific (ie. launching or handling)

Chassis Engineering by Herb Adams is a great start.

Tune to Win by Carroll Smith gets a lot more in depth.

You should read them both.

im familiar with instant center and its effects.... but on a 115hp toyota, i really dont believe the driver would notice a difference if the instant center was at the grill or 15 ft infront of the truck at the ground.... now i can understand if you are saying that by having the instant center at that location, that if the rear end traveled say 4" either way, the pinion angle wouldnt be affected that much.....

max i think you are going to scare guys into only driving their trucks at one height because something crazy will happen if they ride at any height other than the height they set up their roll center and instant center and whatever else you have a lesson on

(and i dont mean anything bad by that, i respect you and your work )

I don't want, what I post, to be taken as scripture. What I am trying to get across is that if the small things like I.C. and roll-center and roll-steer are taken into considerationthat you can end up with a VERY nice driving vehicle. The time that it takes to just think about a quick measurement is nothing. I don't draw the entire vehicle on the ground and calculate the points to every finite dimention. I just figure everything at ride height make sure the I.C. is out front, in the grille(ish) area and run it. I have not built an ill-driving vehicle sence I have realized that these things exist and just knowing that each aspect effects the next is important.

I'm just trying to make sence of the dynamic effects that each change has on the vehicle. I don't want to scare any one, remember I even admitted that a reverse 4-link will work (just not well.) If I wanted to scare you guys I would not have said that.
