Narrowed axle

My question is: If I narrow the rear axle of my 05 Ford F150 will I have any of the lights come on on my dash such as the ABS light or anything. Also does anyone know of a company that can narrow axles in the Dallas/Fort Worth region?

u should have any problems...inless u mess with the abs...

you cut the axle shafts (or tubes) and then cut out the amout to shorten the rear end. then you can install the shortened axles. your abs sensors are part of the brake asembly and none of that is changed at all. so no you shouldn't have any problems like that.

dont just cut, section and reweld your rear axles. you need to take them somewhere to get them done right.

Are you implying that he should try to shorten the rearend himself? If that's the case then thats bad advice.

i narrowed my rear end housing by myself, and sent the axles out to get shortened. Ive never had a problem with it.

why is that bad advice?

check the street trucks article from the last issue, they show how to properly narrow an axle housing, and it was for a new f150 too..... if you have the right tools and knowledge, you can do it..... but if you just go out and cut and take some magnets to hold the rear end back together, and weld, chances are it will be off, and just a half degree off of straight will give your rear end camber or toe in/out, and wear bearings quickly, among other problems....

i just made a simple jig for it on my welding table, something that could be adjusted for how much i wanted it shortened.
