HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!Just finished pulling out the dash last night & damn thats alot of nuts, screws and wires but anyways took lots of pictures and hoping to post some up as soon as I figure it out how to and maybe do a tech story on SSM. Anyways my question is to anybody whose got a 95' with a cracked dash vents and screw mount all to common on these trucks should I try to fix it or buy a new one? And how do you fix it?

I wanted to find out if anybody knows how to fix the cracked area around the defrost vents or should I just buy a new dash??? There is really nothing else wrong with it, just trying to find out what everybody else does

I have the exact same problem...I know what you mean bro...I actually have a '95 also...You are talking about the defrost vents at the top of the dash towards the windshield where the bolts that hold up the dash are, huh? They break from all the bouncin' around and I hate seeing that myself.

Well mine are broken also because I have been wondering myself what to do with that...I haven't taken out the dash because I drive my truck everyday...

Sorry don't know what to do with it...I was thinking on glassing the whole thing and reinforcing it right there behind those vents...I don't know bro...

hey chuy, thanks for replying..I just don,t want to go thru all of the problem of sanding and painting it and then ,go to put it in and it gets even worse. but if you or anybody else got some questions on removing the dash I'm pretty fresh on it right now..

When i took mine out of my 95, they were cracked in the same place. Also while i was sanding an primeing it it had a few small cracks in the surface. I just rebuilt the areas with fusor, which worked out pretty well. Brand new GM dash would be the way to go, but im sure they are pricey!

I have a 95 too and my whole defrost vent is broke out. I'm not talking about just the screws... I have a BIG hole up there and it's starting to crack down both sides of the dash too. Flops around like a wounded duck. I bought another used but great condition dash and will be sanding it down and painting it. But I'm going to beef up that area before I install it. The best thing to do is find another dash.. get a new one (hope you don't need that right arm..) or get a good one from a junk yard.
