CAN'T SAY THAT I READ TAILGATE BUT I LOVE THE PICS.

I'd rather read 50 typos than see the shit that takes over 50 pages of almost every other mag! It's one of my favorites!

I used to read it, but got soo disgusted that I stopped. I was bagging an 2002 AWD Yukon Denali a few years back, and EAI sold me some parts which turned out to work only on the 4WD/2WD not the AWD. I was flipping out on them b/c they told me it would have worked and didnt. Since I was in a jam after tearing into a brand new truck and I couldnt find any info on anyone else that had done it, EAI told me they had a shop bag Escalade (same chassis), supplied all the parts, and the work was featured in Tailgate. I went crazy to track down the issue. It was very hard to find here in NY. I got the issue and after looking at the pics got all the materials to copy what had been done. I started to measure up the parts, fabricate all the bracketry and mock everything up and it turned out that the design would not physically work. They had built a hoop over the front axle but when the suspension would move the hoop would actualy hit the frame and the car wouldnt lay out like they claimed. I called back the guy I was dealing with at EAI who told me to copy what was in the magazine and he told me that he had the actual parts that were built (sitting in his office) and that the design was prone to blowing air bags. I was totally disgusted with both the magazine and the guys at EAI. I couldnt understand how a magazine would do a complete article on a build-up that was BOGUS and didnt actually work. Luckily for me, I was able to fabricate an actual design that worked properly and got the job done.

While that sucks most of the tech articles out there are done on an easy scale and there is no follow up. What you are describing is a very complicated job that should be approached by an experienced builder so its not Tailgates fault.

Great magazine, Find another Mag without any advertising. Who care's about typos. I don't. Tailgate, keep up the great show coverage and features.
