I always thought that was retarded.

Seriously, think about it. I costs 1k more to do a 2 inch as opposed to a 1 inch? I'm no expert, but let me think this through...

1" 2" 3"
Cut the floor loose from the cab X X X
Lower the cab down over the floor X X X
Cut patch panels to fill the gap X X X
Weld in new patch panels X X X
Lower core support X X X

So where is the increased expense between the 3? The filler panel material? I could see if it was something radical and steering colums and linkage was a real issue, but for the average body drop? C'mon.

...but, it is what it is, I guess. It just makes me laugh.

well, you can really on some trucks do a "ghetto" 1" bd by just removing the rubber mounts and bolting the cab right to the frame or just lower the mounts and don't touch the floor at all. Hack out 1" of the bed crossmembers and put a bolt through the bed floor to hold the bed down.

I have seen it done, works for the real fabricators, like the one's that put huge wheels on their stock suv and call it custom or the ricers that are bolt on fabricators.

But to go to 2"s then there would be alot more work.

This is all in the ghetto crap.

Now why would you do a 1" bd anyways?? Big waste of time and money imo, even 2" is borderline not worth it.

As I remember it takes 3" on the c/k duallys to just touch the pinchers.
