Ooook. Everyone else was makin project threads so i just had to join in on the fun....or lack there of.

I had an old thread that had some pictures of what i had started to build last year....well since then i decided to pretty much scrap all of that and start fresh...

so here it is:

Its a 1994 S-10, std cab, short bed. Carbd' 350. SFBD with a 2pump 2 dump hydro/air setup. 20" Devious Titans for wheels....and a bunch of other stuff...

I started out with a stock frame that I had origionally back halfed, and had a traditional bodydrop....i decided to say fuck it and start all over with a SFBD and re-do most of the back half...

I started by makeing a frame table, i only made it the size of the wheel track, because i couldnt fit much larger in my garage....hoisted my stock frame up thare...

I marked all the body mount locations, and their heights, so i could drop them the amout i wanted my Bd to be....

Then i lopped out the section of the frame i wanted to replace for my SFBD section...

Then i startd to make the transition pieces from my new 2x3 1/4 wall frame to my stock front section frame....

Now it was on to the bodymounts....

I just took my measurements from my markers, made some mounts and welded them on 2.5" lower.....so with my bodymounts im using i get a even 3" bodydrop.

So, i wanted to change the most of my back half section....so i cut out everything i had, and started makeing the stuff i wanted.

I started with this:

So i cut out all the shit from that stup that i didnt want, and started makin my new setup...

This brings us to the rear suspension....

In the rear i am running my regular 2 pumps, and 2 dumps..And all the goodies like stainless braded lines, and stainless hardlines.....but i decided to do something different with the rear suspension.... What i did was take the rear cylinders, flip them upside down....and instead of running a coil spring like normal, i am going to run an Airbag, which i will beable to adjust to whatever spring rate i would like to have depending on how i would like it to ride...

The rear is also in a cantilever stup, with the cylinders pushing upward, transfering power to the canti to get lift....

heres the canti brackets...

And here is the steup....

Cantilever at full drop:

Pictures of 4" of lift at the cylinder = 10" of lift at the axle....

Overview pics:

and thats prett much ware im at today. I started taking everytin off the frame, and cleaned up all the link bars and canti brackets to send out to chrome tommorrow...

.And today, i finally dropped the cab onto the frame and got everything squared away for workin on the firewall and floor....

I will continue to update pics in this thread as i go. Sorry for the bombardment of pics, but i hadnt posted anything about the ride in a while.

hey, very nice work and looks very well thought out. I gota question about the link bars. It looks like the forward mounts are pivoting off the same spot. It looks to me that it will work like ur basic 2 link with but have no side to side movement like the wishbone, and will have flex. so what i am getting at is about ur pinon angle. I know most 2 links have a draw back of vibration. Do you think that u will have a problem with that? i mean the work look great i was just woundering.

Im not going to let this thread get turned into a war about what will and wont happen with a 2-link suspension.....becasue im sure it very easily could.

There is no need for side to side movment, as far as the suspension is concearned, im only running two dumps....and theres only two ways my truck sits....layd out, and lifted to drive....so having side to side articulation for the suspension is not needed....in my opinion hitting "sides" is ghey.

Now as far as keeing the axle located under the vehicle....it keeps it tracked very well, i set it on the ground and tried kicking the frame and the freely loaded suspension indipendently, and neither one budged, it keeps the axle centered in the frame very well.

Is the overall motion of the suspension arc, it will be similar to that of a 2-link. And i have ran 2links in the past, and never had a vibration problem.....so i guess im not sure what your getting at about that, it sounds like one of the classic "anti 2-link" stories.

Either way, it preforms how i need it to. It keeps the axle centered under the truck very well, and still allows me to get great lift. I moched up the drive shaft a few weeks ago, and ran into no problems with that also.

hope that answers whatever question you were going for.

thanks
