Well my 1990 toyota extra cab is still not laying frame, it is sitting on the lower control arms... do i have to z the frame or is there an easier way to get it to lay frame?

Theres a harder way, dont think theres any easier ways. Harder would be to move the LCA mount up, that would mean raising the UCA mount also. There will be issues with steering also when doing that.

You will have to Z the frame to get it to lay completely. When i did my Z on my old truck the front crossmember was drug down alot so it made for less of a Z.

I have a bunch of pictures somewhere of when i did my Z. There are some people that believe in moving the LCA/UCA mounts on these yotas and sayin its easier. IMO i think Z'n the frame is the easier way to do it. You wont have any steering problems either.

ok thanks, my next question would be how far back from the front crossmembet would be the best place to cut the frame... and remember im doing a 5MGE swap lol

Cut it right at the firewall.

I used the 1x1 tubing as a guide for the sawzal and to also hold the front clip from moving after the cuts. You will have to cut the front by the radiator support just like your doin a bodydrop.

thats what i have done so far, and it look like its about 6" infront of the front body mount.. cuz i have the cab off my truck, p.s. thanks for the thought of the square tubing i never woulda thought of that... i have the front tires off and im removing the shock mounts and bump stops right now so its sittign the control arms.... so as long as i keep it straight and square it should all be good... thanks a lot for your help

When i did mine the motor was out of the truck and the truck wouldnt lay the front crossmember because the bushings were still tight. I had to take off the lower control arms to get the truck to lay the front crossmember.

I've now done both. The Z and the crossmember section, moving the upper control arm up, raising the steering box and ilder arm mounts, modifying the steering stabilizer mount, and modifying the drag link. The truck rides and drives great, and I haven't experienced any bumpsteer.

Having done both, a traditional Z I think is easier and faster. Some people will say that it will raise your motor. But I offer dropped motor mounts that can be installed in an hour. It will still save you time.
