i have a demon 625 carb on my 350 in my 85 c10 now, it seems kind of high maintanance, does anybody have the edelbrock 650? ive heard its really a bolt on and forget carb, anybody have an opinion on it?

whats high mantiance about it? is it fouling plugs or missing tell me what its doing and maybe i can talk you through a set up that works. need details ie( cam size, intake, heads, type of ignition, headers or manifolds.

its a stock 350, edelbrok shorty headers, i think the float lvl is wrong, it fouls plugs, stalls out under any throttle at all

maybe high maintanance isnt the word for it, i just dont want to mess with it lol

sounds to me like you just need to adjust it there is usually two screws on it that you can turn to richen or lessin the fuel mixture

i adjust the mixture, but it looks like a fog machine, and it smells rich so i lean out the mixture and it doesnt really change much, i found one of my vacuum lines was gone some how so i changed that and it idles great, but like i said it looks like a fog machine and still stalls out if i put it in gear

this is going to be long but very usful first remove the flot bowls off the front and rear of the carb set them aside. now on both sides of the carb there are little screws on the metering plate that is hooked to the main body screw these all the way in and then back out a half turn. now you need to remove the jets from the front of the carb for your application these should only be about number 64 or 65 if not these are the jets you need. reinstall the jets in the front of the carb.remove the jets in the back of the carb they should only be two sizes bigger then the ones in front or primary jets. now take the front float bowl and hold it to were you looking in at the float turn the bowl upside down wile still looking at the float. adjust the float level to were it is sitting level in the bowl while its still upside down. this should be a pretty close setting. do the same with the rear float and reinstall the bowls. try to start the truck and adjust the idle so it just stays running. now look at you float levels through the site plug the fuel should just be at the bottom of the hole no higher. adjust as nessery till you get this right.keep the truck running. now the little screws on the side of the carb that you screwed all the way in and then back out a half turn screw these out a half turn at a time till you get the smothest idel it may idel faster but dont adjust the main idel screw just yet do all the air fuel screws on your carb untill you get the best idel. rev the carb a few times and see how its doing and to clear it out from the tuning. now set your main idel to were it idels and dosent clunk into gear and stays running in gear. after that it should be pretty good you might have to reset your timing a little and readjust your idel but thats it if it still dosent run any better after that then i dont know what to tell you .

ive never had any edelbrock luck i like holleys and a demon is just like a holley. there are some more tricks to that carb but lets just wait and see were that gets us. i hope that helps i wish i was there cause i know i could get it perfect.
