I have there universal struts on my car, and yes there is a noise you can hear coming from the struts, more like a rattle. Sounds like somthing is loose or not installed properly. It is becuase they are adj. and the valve inside is what you are actually hearing, opening and closing. I just turned mine to the stiffest position and the noise is alot quiter. And the ride is still good, not stiff or anything. I knew of the noise before I installed them, but I didn't have much of a choice since nobody mad eany kind of kit for my car.

In a lot of cases, if you hear a rattling noise, it's from a strut top mount nut that's loosened itself. Easy Street supplies a nyloc, but even that can work itself loose. Their universal air struts are... so so. Neither the bag nor piston design seem that great...but they work and are well-priced, and if you have no other option for your particular application, then it's not a bad way to go

I have the Airlift Universal Chapman style struts on the front of my car. They are very reliable and they ride smooth. Only draw back is the noise they make. They don't make the noise when you're driving on a smooth road. However when the road is not smooth, you can definetly hear some rattling noise, like if the upper OEM mount was loose.

Hmm are you 100% sure it's not the upper nut, or your lower mounting bolt/nut that's loose that's causing the rattling? Have you also had a chance to check out all fasteners related to the suspension (like ball joints, lower control arm mounts, tie rods, tc rods, etc.)? It's possible that they've worked loose or have worn out from having the suspension swapped out with something that definitely puts more stress on them than stock. Other than that... the only other thing I can think on the easy street air struts that could make a rattling noise would be the bag's top plate maybe rocking a little against/between the strut shaft and whatever top mount you've got it against. (Oh yeah, and it doesn't hurt to use the supplied rubber isolator, or even go with a thicker one if need be.)

ok well i got another question... how about the double bellow bags on the strut i heard from an airride installer that it will give me more lift with less pressure and more lift overall and that they will also ride nicer..anybody know anythin bout these?

The noise from the struts is 99% of the time coming from the valving inside the strut. I install a TON of shockwaves and whenever I have a "knocking" that sounds like a loose swaybar I know exactly what I have to do. I have to take the entire shock apart and flip the flapper valve over so it seats tight to the oriface all the time. It's a pain in the ass but it stops the noise and I can get it done in about 15 minutes per. The easy street struts have the same issue. The way to tell if that strut is going to make noise before you take all the time and put it in is to push down on the shaft and if it compresses AT ALL before you feel dampning (by AT ALL i mean even .5mm) it will make noise.

The noise thing I can get around, the only problem I have with the easy street stuff is sometimes it just doesn't go low enough. Great product though and they do stand up for their product. I installed some of their struts on an XB and one of them had a strange problem of locking up when you tried to lift it too quick but when lifted slowly it worked fine, they had a new one to me withen two days. Great Customer Service.

Hope my rambling helps.

Yup, 1000% sure it's the valve inside, Tripled checked every possible thing.Originally posted by One Ton Garage

On a side note, I would like to get my front down about 3/4" if anybody has any ideas. Custom strut fork maybe? is that possible?

I don't think you can take apart the airlift air sleeve struts to do that mod on the strut valve, cuz they are crimped on there. But yeah, I tried almost everything I could think of with the noise issue and nothing.

I do believe the noise is coming from the top of the strut banging or having play on it.
