Hi all well not new but hasn't been on at all since I signed up...

well my question is is there anyone here bagged 4wd (convert to 2wd or whatever) on obs tahoe or silverado ?I seen one guy here looks like converted 4wd to 2wd. I first thought baggin it with 4wd attached. now I want to bag without it.

so if anyone has input. let me know.

Yeah it can be done...what year?

More than likely it wont be worth it, it would probably be best to sell it and start with a 2WD...

But good call on not bagging a 4WD, thats just retarded

Oh a '96...

Well the whole front clip is different...and i can't say for sure, but i would assume the 4WD and 2WD arms are different, therefore you count just take out all the 4WD stuff and bolt up 2WD arms and spindles...but like i said i could be wrong

And the 4WD's come 6 lug don't they??

The 4wd use a torsion bar spring, while the 2wd use a coil spring. I have never put the 2 side by side, but I am sure there are quite a few differences. You could just disconnect the axles and leave the stub in place to keep the bearing intact. From there you could run a bracket off the frame and weld a bracket to the lower arm. I am working with a customer to possibly bag his 96 tahoe 4wd on 24s. I will have to get started to know for sure, but I am guessing that the rear end will need to be narrowed and I will have to do something with the front control arms. Those trucks have a horrible front design in that the big tires dont tuck inside the fender. Id love to talk to someone who has done it.

I wanted to do it to my 95 4x4 Tahoe, it really didnt seem worth it though.

well it can be done with 4wd still intact seen it at the fsc and he had good write up.
so I can go with that route, but my 4wd not working anyway, I can throw axle etc away and make more room etc.

for the just taking axle, I was trying to find out if those 99 6bolt hub would fit, because that's basically cup covered where axle goes in.
so if I do it that route I think I can get it work as well. I'm just researching it right now to lay out what can be done and which one I can choose to best doing this.

nyccustomizer yeah I think you need to narrow depends on the rims you use though.
it can be done without narrowing I believe.
front is the only prob for me rear setup I got it figured out brian from ART gave me good info. and Mike from fbi also giving some information for front end.

so I can use more expert heads opinion and ideas.....

and yeah also member sws4life
his 2dr tahoe looks like it was 4wd.
because from the pic lower control parm is from 4wd. and I see the upper control arm is different and spindle, hub etc....

that's kind of stuff I have in mind.....

about half the bag jobs I do are on 4wd escalades, tahoes and stuff like that. I personally would not do it because it's just way to much work to get them even half as low as it is to get a 2wd. Most of the time the controll arms on a 4wd are lower also which is a pain. The 2wd upper control arms are mounted above the frame rail and the 4wd uppers are mounted against the frame rail, prob about 4 inches difference.

Hope this helps man, Jay

Buy a two wheel drive front clip from picknpull, pull the tcase, build rails back and stockfloor that bitch. Probably easier then trying to get a 4x4 as low as a 2wd.Ive thought about it cuz 4x4 tahoes are cheaper around here anyway.

yeah around here hard to find except the police ones. and they are only few for sale I missed, others are complete junk... didn't even worse buyin frame for.

jay thanks man that info actuall helps. I'm gonna kep researching researching..
