OK level out your truck.
Measure from the frame to the ground. (ex 8")
28" is a good measurement for a 255/35r20.
Sooo 1/2 of that is 14".
Say your axle is 3" diameter. 1/2 of that is 1.5".

Now you have 3 numbers. 8" (ground to bottom of frame that will lay), 14" (20 inch wheel radius) and 1.5" (3" axle radius)

Add these numbers together. 8+14+1.5=23.5"
This number is the absolute minimum height from the ground to the inside of your notch.

If you are going to run bags over the axle be sure to factor the space required for a compressed bag (3") into the equation as well.

Why did you put tacks on the inside of the notch? You'll have to cut them.. Also please clean that frame to bare metal before you go welding it.

hey seth umm i did that cuse i wanted to make one smooth pass on the other side then i can just cut those tinny taks out umm i did i grinded down were i welded ummm im using a miller thunderbolt arc welder anyway but other wise wat do you think of it,Dose it look to high ,low or should it be tilted towards more,,, any comments would help thanks

why dont you put your 4link on and get the axle to sit on the frame - put blocks under your tires to simulate the 28" diameter your going for - then measure how much further the frame needs to go to hit the gound - then weld it in. Thats how i always do it, might not be the right way - but seems to work for me. The round notch looks good by the way - i like it.

I try to set up 4 links before the notch as much as possible.

Your notch centerline and axle centerline shouldn't be lined up. 4 links cause the axle to arc forward as the truck lays out. Your notch centerline will have to be ahead of your ride height centerline. Otherwise when you lay out, your axle is going to be too far forward in the notch.

I always set up 4 links with the axle touching the bottom of the stock frame and centered in the wheel well. Its pretty close to ride height for most bagged guys and you can tack the axle to the frame once you have it all set up. That will be your ride height centerline. Then I usually set the notch centerline about 1-1.5" forward of that depending on how tall the notch is and the 4 link setup. Longer bars will minimize the arc of the axle, and the higher the axle has to travel to lay out, the more its going to arc forwards.

hey yea i would do that but im still not sure about the link setup im doing. i know i want a forward 3 link with two bars with bags on them going back. what you guys think?? so u guys think i should buy the link set up now and get that as far as posible then do the notch
thanks for the help
