Mono leaf question

I was looking at mono leafing my 84 C10 but was curious what kind of height differance this was actually going to make. And also what kind of ride quality should I expect?

I dont know much about the height difference, but im guessing it would bring it down anywhere between 2-4 inches just by monoleafing it. Make sure you leave the overload spring in there (its the thick one thats flat) so you dont snap the main leaf.

You might get alot of axle wrap when you accelerate hard because of all the torque. If it were me i wouldnt run a monoleaf on a big truck like that for very long.

Any other suggestions on getting the back down without serious mods? This is just a beater that im sick of looking at 10feet in the air.

Do a "flip kit" on the rear. I would not do the mono leaf, it is bad enough on a mini.

How exactly do you do a flip kit?

chevies dont need a flip kit do they? pull a leaf out, and run some 3 inch angle blocks.

You will know if you need a flip kit if the leafs are on top of the axle btw. I have never looked at those older chevys though.

yeah...flip kit that will get you 5 or 6 inches

You can build a down a dirty one out of a piece of thick wall box tube with a hole drilled in it. It should interlock with the stock spring mount to keep it from moving around.
