How long can I have my truck without doing anything to it after I strip it down to bare metal? I plan on painting after gator drag but won't have time before then.

corrosion starts right away..so it will need to be re-sanded/stripped

like trevor said you have to cover it asap any moisture from you hand can cause it to have rust in no time this is something not to wait on

ok so i have a question (not tryin to steal ur thread CHOSN1)but what are the advantages and disadvantages of stripping the truck to bare maetal?, i dont much about bodywork so i was curious

unless the surface you are working with is in poor shape, has ALOT of paint or filler on it...there is NO NEED to strip it all to bare metal...

o ok that makes sense, thanks for that

it has factory paint on it plus coats of primer on top of that. So, i may not qualify as a good candidate but I just wanted to strip it anyway unless it would do more harm then good. After reading yalls comments, I would probably go ahead and use a direct to metal primer from HOK. Would I need to put a sealer on top of that?

you will do more harm then good stripping it to baremetal. just block out what is there w/ 180 then hi buidl primer off of that.
