ok these have lately become very popular. with many different custom designed brackets. my question is what does everybody use to cut them? plasma-cutter, laser-cut, water-jet? any other methods?

id say laser or water. i dont think a plasma would keep it that kleen. might tho. and i think those are the most common way to get cuts like those

a CNC Plasma system will definently cut them that clean and thats prolly what cut that... also cnc plasma's are definently the most popular for such brackets due to the relatively inexpensive price of the equipment

My buddy cut all of mine with a mill...... Took like 5 hours but we can claim that we did everything ourselves..... Just kinda nice to control the outcome yourself....

mine (the first ones pictured) were cut by joel at mindliss metal. Hes a kick ass guy, and very easy to deal with. They were cut by laser, all i had to do was send him a drawing in AutoCAD format, and he hooked it up for me.

I now also have access to a CNC plasma, and it makes great cuts also, either one is a good choice.

I recently got those above brackets chromed, and the finish of the laser cut is PERFECT, i had to do absolutely no clean up, and the chrome lays flat on each edge, and shows no cut marks at all.

Laser is optimal as far as tolerence and clean parts. Plasma is ok but you do get some taper in the holes and there might be some clean up involved, but some are better than others hi definition ect.

every method you said up there would cut them. heck even an torch, it wouldnt be that clean, but back in the ole days, they didnt have high tech water/plasma/turd cutters.

Yeah yours already in CAD was a bonus but all I really need is a sketch with critical dimensions to get it done. Not everyone has access to or can use AutoCad so I try to be as accommodating as I can.

If you wernt so picky about having the crazy angles and the holes cut out of the center, the cheap way that I would use would be either a belt saw(time consuming, but clean cuts), or buy some cutting wheels for your 4 or 4 1/2 inch grinder and then clean up the cuts with a belt sander. All your holes can be made with hole cutters or uni-bits.

You either dont value your time at all or don't realize that laser cutting is pretty affordable then.
